Hey guys, what's up? This is episode 22 of CGCast. I know I
've missed a few episodes,
I've missed a lot of time, but I've been kind of busy with
school, but now I'm kind of back and
school is over and I have my vacations, so I want to catch
up on all that I've missed.
I have a lot of plans and I would love to accomplish them
and it's going to be great,
It's going to be a great year.
I plan on doing a lot more interviews.
I've been looking at a lot of people.
I've been sending a lot of emails.
I just hope they respond.
I've also gotten a few people that have already responded
and I just need to find the time.
They've already been planned out.
I've missed a few interviews because of moving, but don't
worry.
More interviews are coming up with a lot of different
people, people who work in the industry.
I'm also trying to get an interview with one of the guys
that worked on the Elephant Dream project.
So that should be really cool.
I also plan on doing more video podcasts.
I might review some more stuff.
I also plan on doing a video podcast.
I'm making a short animation.
So you can see kind of what the process is from story
boarding all the way to the final render and editing.
So that should be really fun.
It's going to take me a while to make, but it's going to be
worth it.
And I really hope you guys enjoy it.
Also, I'm going to be releasing the videos in movie format,
in .mov format.
So it'll be compatible with iTunes and hope that they get
downloaded more because the other movie format,
the other video podcasts that I have done have been, the
downloads have been very poor compared to the audio formats
.
I also want to do a movie project.
This project is I need a few people, a modeler, a rigger,
an animator, a texture artist,
and maybe even a concept artist.
And the object is to make a short movie, maybe 5 to 10
minutes long.
I have a cool story idea, you know, naked chicks, katanas,
orcs, blah, blah, blah.
No, I'm kidding.
It's going to be kind of an original story, kind of my
style, kind of etherealistic.
The story, the style, I don't want it to be realistic, nor
too cartoony, like a nice balance in the middle.
And I'll be directing it, the story, I'll do some modeling,
I'll put in a little help here and there.
But I need a good team with really good people.
If you're interested, you can send me an email at archer at
cgcast.com or post in the CG form.
It would be better if you post in the CG form and post a
link to your work so I know what your skill is.
And if I can let you in.
I don't need too many people because too many chefs spoil
the broth.
So I'll pick out the people.
But if you're really good, we can help you.
Or if we need extra people, we'll let people join in from
time to time.
The objective of this is not really to make money or
anything like that.
that's like the last of the priorities.
This is like a learning experience and exposure.
And to see if we can actually accomplish it,
I've made a few shorts myself.
I kind of know how the process goes,
but I want to see what it feels like to work with other
people
and kind of myself to build up some leadership skills.
And plus, it'd be a great experience.
If it's successful, you can put it in your portfolio
or you can use it as a demo reel and send it to studios
and show what you did.
Also, if we win a film festival, that's awesome.
if we can enter for an Oscar.
But that's really dreaming ahead.
The story I have, I just need to storyboard it,
and it should be cool.
We can start working on it.
Also, we can chronicle it on the podcast,
and everything will be pretty cool.
Also, we'll have all discussions.
I'll record the discussions so it can be part of the
podcast.
It'll be pretty cool.
So if you're interested, go to the forum
and let me know what's up.
Also, if you live in Switzerland,
that would be a big plus
because you could help me with the video podcast
and all of that stuff
because none of my friends here
really are interested in 3D or CG at all.
So if you're here and you want to help out,
if you live in Switzerland and you want to help out,
just contact me.
It doesn't matter where you live.
Switzerland is not that big.
that's five hours away maximum anything and she speak
french that's all right i speak french too
preferably if you speak english it'd be cool also uh i
joined a myspace i joined cg cast in myspace
i know what you're thinking myspace is not very cool but
actually it is i was kind of bored and
i was searching around and i found that there are a lot of
cg artists on there and i've met up quite
a few people on myspace that are interested in cg so if you
're interested that you can add cgcast
to your myspace list it's myspace.com slash cgcast and be
cool for networking and it kind of opens
up to a new audience besides cg talk see another
perspective it's a bit different from cg talk but
It's kind of cool in its own way.
Also, I've set up a new forum for CGCast.
I didn't like the old one because it was collecting too
much spam
and deleting it was becoming a hassle.
And this one looks pretty cool.
It's very different from traditional forums.
It's Ajax-based. It's very nice.
Join up and you'll post your suggestions on the forum about
the show.
You can post your work and I'll get to
Analyze the people who I'm interviewing
To create your work on the show
So that's kind of cool
Trying to make the show more interactive
I've been trying to do that a lot
But you guys aren't really helping
Try and make the show more for the people
Make the people more involved
Because the show isn't about me
Or it's about you
It's about the community
So I was trying to have an open mic night once
And nobody at all responded
and that kind of made me sad.
Maybe I can have an open night, Mike,
again, where anybody can go and say what they want,
relating to CG, of course.
But yeah, so we'll see how that works.
If there's interest, I'll do it again.
Also, the CG chat, which was popular for a while
and then died down, will be back up soon,
new and improved, an IRC format.
The old chat kind of got knocked out
when I had some really huge problems with my server and the
database went kaput
and I had to manually re-put everything.
That was horrible, but the chat is still not working,
but it will be up soon in a new format.
I just need Ruben to do it for me.
Big thanks to Ruben.
He's the guy behind the scenes that kind of makes
everything work on the website.
He built the website.
He's always updating the website.
when there's errors and stuff like that.
So big thanks to Ruben.
And I think that's about it.
It's a short episode, but don't worry.
The shows are going to get better.
I just need a little bit of time.
By next week, we should have an interview.
And a week after that, another interview.
And maybe a few podcasts.
I mean, a few videocasts.
And all will be good.
So I hope you enjoyed this little show.
It's short, but it's fun.
Small things come in small packages.
So see you.
