*CG Cast Intro*
Welcome everybody to a special episode of CG Cast.
It's special because CG Cast has been out for one year.
It was created during September of last year as a little
experiment.
And I guess it worked because we're still around.
So this episode is just to talk a little bit about it and a
bit about myself.
So you guys get to know something at night because, well,
yes.
And why not?
Okay, so you're probably wondering how this all got started
.
Well, I was really into podcasts because I was really into
tech TV at the time.
And then when I moved to Switzerland, I didn't have access
to tech TV anymore.
And I had learned that it had gone to hell after G4 had
bought it.
So all the old guys from tech TV started making their own
podcasts.
Leo Laporte made Twit and Kevin Rose made Dignation.
And Patrick Norton started with his digital live TV or DL.
TV.
so I thought it would be really cool to make a podcast
about CG and I told my brother I told
him that ah what if I make a podcast about CG now called CG
cast and he said oh that's a good idea
I'll go register the domain for you it was like whack and
he registered the domain so
I kind of felt obligated to do it so I told my friends
about my plan and they didn't really care
basically laughed at me so I finally got one person who was
interested enough to
help me out and I scripted out the first episode and I got
Mark Pintar to help me
the recording was pretty ghetto because basically I had the
microphone to the
speaker to record it and it didn't come out so bad
eventually moved on to Skype
and two PCs to record but that to itself can be a pain in
the ass after that it
was pretty good the the first website we had was pretty
crappy and then Ruben came and saved my
life he designed a really cool website PHP with the admin
and everything and I'm really grateful
for that we still have it and it was pretty worth it
because I made a lot of friends in the process
like Ruben and I helped a lot of people here the voices of
CG artists I got to interview a lot of
cool people like robert chang lee leo a lot of people chris
chris again and it's pretty cool
well after one year i don't really have any regrets about
it i did a lot of sacrifices for
i sacrificed a lot of time to set up the shows been sending
a lot of emails a lot of times when
I send the emails nobody replies and it kind of breaks my
heart a little bit but it's really cool
when people at least reply to say no it shows some courtesy
a lot of people just ignore you
and that kind of sucks a lot of people have been kind
enough to say yes and be interviewed
sometimes the process doesn't go so smooth like when the
computer shuts off crashes and then you
lose an entire show or when skype drops out a lot of bad
things for shows one show i had to wake up
at like 5 a.m to record because of time zone issues one of
them i recorded just before i was
about to go to bed it was like at 3 a.m one show i even
canceled the date for to to record kind of
regret that a little bit i should have just gone out on the
date but i think for you guys i've had
like two emails of well one of the most
formfuls of criticism but whatever I'm
just doing this for fun trying to help
you guys out I've had when school
started I had all my time taken away so
I cut back on the shows I wanted to do a
show every week that's like four shows a
month I've only accomplished 50% of that
but schools started and I had school
from 7 to around 6 p.m. every day.
But now I've recorded a few shows
that I'm going to be posting up,
so that should be over with.
To everybody that supported, I want to say thanks.
I had set up the chat,
and that was pretty cool
until the database messed up and stopped working.
It's still there, but you have to have a special link to it
.
But I want to try and make up a new chat
that's Ajax-based and everything,
So it would be much cooler.
But finding an app for it is really hard.
So there are lots of cool things to come.
A little bit about myself.
Me, I was born in Haiti.
I lived there until I was 5 years old.
Then I moved to Jamaica where I had to learn English.
And I lived there until I was 13.
So that made 8 years in Jamaica.
I really miss Jamaica because when I moved to Honduras,
there was such a huge culture shock.
And to learn the Spanish and the culture shock was the most
,
It was the biggest thing for me.
It took me a while to get adjusted.
Once I finally got adjusted, we moved to Switzerland and
there was a new culture shock.
It wasn't so bad.
I was kind of used to it.
It was kind of like Jamaica.
The thing again had to learn a new language.
It was the French.
And the Swiss.
Oh my god.
Everything closes at 6.
There's a lot of flaws.
You can't make noise.
No jet skis allowed.
Not that I had a jet ski, but still.
It'd be fun to rent one in Miami from time to time.
what else uh the three languages here alone all right wow
well i got into cg because i got into
computers since i was very little i remember going to dos
to play keen and doom and all that and then
remember when windows 3.11 came out and doing all of that
to learn it then windows 95 my first
computer was before the 386 was a after the 386 was a Pent
ium 1 32 megs of RAM
133 megahertz that was a good time just to basically do
whatever on it and then
finally I got my Pentium 3 933 megahertz 256 megs of RAM
and then I had gone to
back to Jamaica to visit my cousins and my uncle was
telling I was saying my
uncle I was really into games and stop and he was telling
me why don't you
check it out maybe you can learn a 3d program and you could
get into the
industry and I was interested so I looked around and then I
had found a
demo for G max no I wasn't the demo G max and I started
learning that and then
And after that it just took off, I started visiting forums
and etc.
Learning learning learning.
Then the first forum I joined was the3dstudio.com which is
history now.
Well, it decides to exist when the forum is gone.
And then I learned a lot.
Most of the members from the3dstudio.com have moved on to
SymfieCG.net with Tyson and Cameron
and Franklin and Mark.
Who else was there? Lee.
All those guys, but a lot of them haven't moved on with us.
Then I discovered CG Talk and 3D Total.
I started learning, learning as much as I could.
And that's how I got into CG.
I really mostly got into CG because I've always wanted to
make movies.
But in Honduras, I had no camera or anything.
So I figured 3D Studio Max, I might try and make a movie in
that.
When I first got into 3ds Max, making spheres and planets,
and it was, that's it, it was the coolest thing ever.
And I told my friends my plans, and they laughed at me.
I really need to get better friends, seriously.
And, but eventually, now I'm in film school,
I haven't been doing as much 3D,
but I still hope to do films, and maybe one day go to
Hollywood,
and make a blockbuster movie or animation or something,
but you never know.
I also plan on keep on doing CGCast and other podcasts.
If anybody's out there interested in doing a podcast
and needs some help hosting or whatever,
I can help you out if it's a cool idea.
I already have CGCast and FestCast and Two Guys and Three
Heads.
Check out Two Guys and Three Heads.
It's by a friend that I'm hosting and helping him out.
It's tg3h.com.
It's about...
It's a news show.
It's about entertainment, music, movies, and stuff like
that.
If you're interested in that, check it out.
He needs some help because he hasn't had many viewers.
And he could use a support because he's kind of getting sad
.
Because nobody's checking out his show.
But he's afraid to promote it.
I don't know why, but...
Check it out.
tg3h.
twoguys3heads.com
Hope you enjoyed the show.
It's been a rainy night.
It wasn't exactly the best condition to do it,
but I might as well do it before the month is over
because it's kind of special to me.
It kind of went by and I didn't even realize
it's been one year.
A lot has happened.
My life has changed a lot.
Both good and bad.
Oh my God.
Last year was just so good.
Seriously.
A lot of good things happened but the beginning of this
year was just terrible.
My god.
Seriously.
I lost a lot this year and I had a humongous amount of bad
luck.
It was horrible and depressing.
Last year was like peaches and happiness and this year was
complete opposite.
It ruined me.
My god.
But now it's starting to get a bit better.
But winter's coming up.
That sucks.
Moving to Switzerland was another thing.
It's the horrible winter.
Last year was the coldest winter in Switzerland in 50 years
.
But wow.
The beginning of this year was just terrible.
But anyways.
I'm going off topic.
But yeah, I have a lot planned.
I'm planning on doing a lot more videos.
But I'll still be doing the interviews.
I have an interview to be edited.
But that'll come after the videos.
I'm planning to do more shooting the whatever shows with
just a bunch of guys.
Talking about CG in general and, you know, having fun.
All the good stuff.
And I thank everybody who's ever supported.
If you listen, if you're a fan, whatever.
Thank you for listening.
If you're a hater, thank you for hating.
Because the worst thing is indifference.
Love and hate is all good.
Indifference is just bad.
So tell your mom, your dad, your brothers, your sisters,
your friends to watch CGCast.
And my other shows, which I haven't really worked on.
But yeah.
If you like the videocast, tell me.
If you want me back audio, I'll go back.
But I've already recorded a few shows.
So those will stay.
And yeah, it's all good.
So, thanks for watching again, goodbye, and have a good
year.
I mean, it's good now.
The year sucked at the beginning, but it's good.
Maybe things will turn around, and all the bad will undo
itself.
But yeah, oh yeah, my short movie project's still going on.
I took a little break from it because I've been here in the
Ticino for the past month and few weeks.
I came here for a summer job and I ended up staying
because I hate Lausanne
I hate Lausanne but I don't like Lausanne
but once I get back to Lausanne
I'll continue
working on it I've been thinking
about it on my mind some changes to the story
been working out the storyboard
in my head and everything but yeah
also check out the forums I'm running out of tape
check out the forums
cgcast.com
cgforums and post help out
the show and everything
well good night guys and I hope you enjoyed the show
peace
whatever ciao
adios
adios
bye
that's about it
that's still recording
I don't know
My little button
That's why you shouldn't get your camera wet kids
But I sacrificed a lot of time
Okay, let's try it again
Yes
