Welcome everybody to another exciting episode of CGCast.
And today to start things off we have Richard who will do
an intro for us.
If it sucks, it stays. So Richard, your intro.
Okay, that's enough of that.
Anyways, this is like the first episode of the year and
stuff.
so like we'll be talking about what happened like during
the year and stuff so 2006 what was your
opinion in 2006 guys it was no not really it's not that
much of an exciting year i think it
totally sucked it was like one of the worst years ever you
think so i mean look at all the progress
that that has been made since like compared to the other
years i mean maya and max like new version
of them things came out. HumeFX came out.
I don't know. There's a new version of Max
every year. Well, but
2006 was cool. No, it wasn't.
In 2005, we had
hair and fur. 2006,
we had what? New returns.
Nobody cares about Gears of War. We'll get to
that later on. I'm afraid I don't have
an Xbox face.
Bye.
Bye.
CG Talk had their CG
retrospective. I shall learn
to say that word one day. And then
And would you guys like to go through it with me?
It's nothing.
It's not that there isn't.
We've got readout everything.
And that's it.
It is sunset.
Subtle.
Number 20.
A new tackle.
I care.
Well, it's nice that a new version of Lightwave come up.
But I'm not really active in Lightwave anymore.
So I don't know if it's any good.
I never actually tried Lightwave.
I've tried it before.
it's a cool program because it doesn't take up much of your
uh your memory space and it's an easy
program to learn cool i see so okay go jimmy neutron and
then number 19 shake price drop to
500 bucks from 300 dollars three thousand dollars so show i
guess that's a lot cheaper yeah it's
both $2,501 cheaper.
Hmm.
It's like the...
You don't even know
what it is, but...
It's like the
Node-based
After Effects
for Mac.
Oh, right.
It's a new
zone Windows,
thank you.
I have no idea.
Maybe?
I know these.
I know it's made
by the people
that make Final Cut.
Must be okay, then.
I hope it's not
as unorganized
as Final Cut.
Oh, my God.
It's an unorganized
program.
Seriously.
Shift tiles
everywhere.
okay does anybody care we use the shake I use after effects
so care so far very
interesting I was going to say a particle list anyways
group reaction
whatever number 18 do you six Internet I think that's a
pretty cool program that
you can make some awesome environments yes I noticed they
used it for a Pirates
of the Caribbean dead man's chest started tiny that yeah I
think it's a
cool piece of software i've never used it before but i don
't know i think you can make some amazing
environments with it i think that's the first 3d program i
've ever used like the old version
max 4 like it used to be when 3ds max 4 was out oh that's a
long time ago i had 3ds max 4 bible
well that looks cool so that's that's the most interesting
thing on the list so far
Number 17, Microsoft Xbox 360.
Starring Dears of War.
Okay, I'm going to do a spoiler.
PlayStation 3 is number 7, which I think is stupid.
Yeah, pretty much.
So, Xbox 360, what opinion? Good, bad?
No, it's very good, actually.
There are some interesting games on it, and the graphics
are awesome.
I agree.
I think it should have been higher on the list.
Yep.
And thanks, R2.
Is the Wii on the list?
Yes, but we're skipping ahead.
Ah, sorry.
So, number 60, ATI AMD merger.
Very interesting.
Oh, that is interesting.
It is.
It's the future of your CPUs and graphics cards in one.
Maybe they all merge them together very distant.
Imagine what that means for laptops.
No more integrated crap.
Yeah, true.
But you can get nice little Dell 12-inch with NVIDIA
graphics.
I'd rather have ATI because, yeah, you know what I'm saying
?
That's a really sucky trend with the video cards.
They're having really annoying drivers.
They want to have their own control panels.
Well, it is kind of cool because you can set up so many
things.
I mean, I used to have NVIDIA and you could set things up,
yeah.
But with ATI, I don't know, I can force like 3D programs or
games
to be at a certain resolution even though the game can't.
physically support it.
That's nice.
But you know,
the problem is with laptops
and video cards,
even though they're not integrated.
I mean, some are acting on their own.
And my laptop, for example,
can play games nicely
if it's being put on regular power.
So if it's not running on batteries,
then it's fine.
But if you run on batteries,
everything slows down.
It's so sucky, man.
My laptop can do that.
You can have it for power well on the battery and all this
to the drains the battery
Faster so I go from instead of having three and a half
hours
So around power to house
The more you go the less time you get with the battery
which is kind of the main part of the laptop in the first
Blakes, you know, yeah. Yeah, but by an extended battery
Yeah, it's like 90 bucks for a battery
Yeah, so anyways the list number
Just teaching you Max and Cinema 4D R10
Wait, about the name 4D,
What if all 3D packages are technically 4D since they
include animation?
Cause 4th dimension are full time, animation is...
Uh, something.
It's got nothing to do with-
What? Did you fail physics or what?
No.
The 4th dimension is time, but manipulation of time isn't
even manipulating the 4th dimension.
Well, shouldn't do that in any 3D packages, can you?
So shouldn't all 7-3 Studio Max be called 4D Studio Max?
Isn't Zelda Matora's class a 4D game?
Richard, speak louder, please.
The fans have been complaining.
No, seriously.
They said the sound quality really sucks, man.
There's not much I can do because I'm out there beside you
guys
controlling your microphones and your sound settings.
Ah.
It's a bit hard.
Ah.
We need teleportation to be invented,
so can you please speak louder for the greater good?
Indeed I should.
Actually I'm gonna bring my castle, my Mephifang closer to
me.
Very good, very good.
Do the trick.
That is good.
Yah.
Yah yah.
Yah.
Ditto height.
Yah nah.
Anyways, this is Cinema 4D.
Anybody excited?
I've never tried it.
Yeah, okay.
Next.
Number 14.
Waxology Modo 202.
Cool piece of software.
Indeed.
But it's not really that great.
I mean, you can do the same with every other program.
There was a lot of hype about it at the beginning of the
year.
Yeah, too much hype.
Yeah.
What was so special?
I didn't see anything special.
Well, there were certain tools to make modeling of faces
more easy
and unwrapping faces more easy.
There was a feature that you could paint on surfaces
or at least copy stuff to surfaces.
For example, if you have a tube, you could have modeled a
bolt and draw it on the surface itself.
So it faces the right way and touches the tube, for example
.
That was new.
It's cool.
It's just faster and more convenient.
That's it.
I see.
Number 13.
Lucky 13.
Soft image.
Wait, is it soft image or soft image?
I don't know.
Either way, I can say Robot 1.5.
soft image so does anybody even have enough me to afford
this program i heard i haven't even
heard of it before i've said it's awesome and i've seen
videos of that thing being used and
what does it do it's like it it's for facial animation and
then it totally rocks i mean it
makes your life a lot easier really i see so we're excited
about it uh personally personally
no because I don't use it.
But I suppose for the people who use it
that's probably really cool.
The few selected I can afford it.
You see it says if face robot software
enables professionals to
animate digital human faces with higher
quality results blah blah blah blah blah
so if you're not a professional you can't animate
human faces with
higher quality. Wow.
I see. No.
No seriously I suppose it's cool.
I'd love to try it.
Okay then. I don't know.
So anyways, number 12, V-Ray 1.5.
That's always been awesome.
But yeah, if you know how to use it,
then you can make some awesome renders with it.
Is V-Ray 1.5 even out?
Yeah, what?
No, it's still in beta, I think.
What, V-Ray 1.5?
Yeah, it's still...
No, no, no, it is out. It is out.
Well, there's no latest news on V-Ray.
This is from chaosgroup.com.
August 8, 2006.
Chaos Group is pleased to announce the first release
candidate for version 1.5 of V-Ray rendering engine from
Autodesk 3D.
I'm pretty sure if it was out, they would put those seats
out on the website.
Unless they have a really lazy webmaster.
I think it is.
Well, there's an RC.
I mean, I think it did come out.
There's an RC is out, but the final gold version?
It's a lot faster.
I haven't tried 1.5, I've been using the old one a few days
.
But I will try and test out the new one.
It looks pretty full, are we excited?
Yes.
Yeah, pretty much, yeah.
No way.
Apex.
Geeds.
Okay, we haven't been able to get one.
They're all small values.
Yeah, I sent it to friends.
But like, I've tried it, I've played Rayman.
You know, the one with the crazy bunnies.
Raving Rebels.
Yeah, that.
It's a bloody awesome game.
I mean seriously, I've played this so much in one night I
had cramps for a week.
I wanted it for Zelda, a really montane game.
But that game is cool actually.
I would wait till like if they ever come out with things
you can put on your feet as well.
That'd be awesome.
To run.
But anyways, but CG wise, I'm pretty sure, JPEG wise, I'm
pretty sure this is really
what should stay as the game stream really.
But wouldn't the Xbox 360 featuring Gears of War be higher
on the list than the Nintendo
Wii?
I think...
CG?
Hell yeah.
Yes.
They've put it at position 11
because, you know,
it's like a new technology
with their remote controls
and everything.
But it's not CG related.
Gyroscopes are not new.
I'm sorry.
They're not.
Next.
Number 11.
You know, it's funny.
On CG Talk,
they were talking about
no software wars.
Am I cleaning?
Need software
at a different number.
It's like showing
how biased
the Biosity
I'm inventing words
like
suffer
anyways
XSI 6
I've never used it
but it
it looked
like a better version
than the previous one
didn't they have
didn't they have
a free version
sometime
like the learning edition
I got it to work
but it was really weird
one time
on my Pentium 3
so we know
it was a long time ago
but
could never get into it
nah
I used 4
well at least
I tried 4
but nah
didn't really get into it
something I found
really funny
you know them
adverts with a guy
and his finger
leaving that
kind of mark
after he wrote stuff
you know what I mean
yeah
it's like being
overused
everywhere
a style
annoying
iPod
I coughed saying
iPod Nano
you missed it
let me do
no
indeed yeah
yeah I'm sorry
I'm pretty sure
that effect was made
in After Effects
yeah
God suck
why
but there's somewhere on the web to show you how to do that
with after effects yes i did it but
what's stupid about that story is if you put an image or
footage underneath it the image also
gets glowed and until it's different it passes yes no but
that's pretty stupid and i don't know
the ad when i was doing 2d max you get a both effects and
then do it fastest from 2d max
but that's just me yeah that's just you yeah don't listen
to everything i'd say i could be wrong
99% of the times.
I'm reading that wrong.
Let me see.
Just think about it.
Anyway.
Anyways.
I think this thing drops from time to time,
which is there's nothing I can do about it
because I do not control the Wi-Fi gods
and the Skype masters.
So if it drops,
well, sorry.
Anyways, number nine.
Disney Pixar's Cars.
Awesome movie.
To all well done.
Yeah.
Seriously, I mean, it's awesome.
I mean, I certainly love as well the fact that if you look
like the mountains,
if you look at them, there's bits that look like fronts of
cars.
I've noticed that after I watched the movie about five
times or something.
Oh, I noticed that in the first place.
I mean, he drives through this area where there are a few
mountains that look like cars.
Although there is, you know, the bit when they're keeping
little birds from their shorts,
like for the birds.
Yeah, I remember that.
Basically, in that short, there's about 15 birds.
And in Cars, if you stop exactly when the birds go by,
there's only 12 or 13, so there's a few missing.
You really have way too much free time.
I've seen a movie about 15 cars in this net.
I've seen it a few times.
I've seen them together.
I think the story is a bit cliche.
There's a big shot that gets put down,
and then he finds a master, and then his friends help,
him when he needs it's just about discovering who you
really are it's a bit for that again give me
one thing that's not cliche nowadays from pixar the incred
ibles was pretty original uh monsters
ache was pretty original how many movies do you have where
a little kid gets kidnapped well falls
into a realm of monsters and the monsters fall in love with
the kid and that was pretty original
to me I am moved by her story wow but they're doing moving
but the wall e that's gonna come
out with the aliens oh really coming out whenever I think
it's summer 2008 or 2009
remember too far away wait that is is rated by Brad Bird to
me the incredible stuff
it looks like a nice movie I want to see it indeed
something funny I've noticed by the way
is that sometimes you get the feeling
you can notice who worked on the animation.
For example, run cycle sometimes on some character
similar to the rats in Ratatouille.
Maybe they're reciting a animator.
Maybe they recycled animation.
How can you recycle a work cycle
from a monster to a rat?
Well, you can do it with character studio.
Yeah, but they don't hang to the DS Max.
They use parts and...
But do you know they don't have similar implementations?
Programs or scripts to do.
What if they just adjust the skeleton?
It's all possible.
Anyway, on with the list.
Number 8, 3D Studio Max 9 64-bit.
I so want to try that.
I've tried it and didn't really do much for me though.
I wonder if the words of this though.
It should be.
I mean, it'd be kind of pointless if it wouldn't.
There's something really funny.
I mean, I had an AMD 64 for like three years,
and the day 3DS Max 9 comes out with a 64-bit thingy,
I changed processor,
and I don't have a 64-bit processor anymore.
Sad.
When this stuff comes out,
I'll install it on my laptop,
and I'll download this 64-bit demo and see what's up.
I'll do a CG episode about it.
It'll be so cool.
But then videos with the improvements
looks totally awesome for the speed.
around everything looks a lot faster and what they feel
they just made a stable version and so far
i've crashed with 3ds max so often which first thing
vertices which now which version nine eight
or no not nine and the problem started after 3ds max four
really that's where because yeah that's
when all my versions crash that i tried i'm still on seven
and it rarely crashes only when i'm doing
something stupid. No, and it
crashed for me a lot. Maybe
it just doesn't like you. Maybe you're just
not cool enough for Macs.
But seriously, you should get the updates
for 3DS Macs because it works
a lot better with them.
Nah, I don't need from you yet anymore, so
I don't bother. So, 3
Macs 9, are we excited?
Actually, the updates
improved, mental ray
improved here. Yeah.
The fact that they improved mental ray is cool.
Actually, that's cool because to do global illumination in
Minnesota right now is much easier.
True.
Like in version 7, it was really hard for me to do anything
that looks like global illumination.
Now it's just a few clicks.
You put a physical sky, physical sun, you enable the blah,
blah, blah.
It's blah, blah.
Yeah.
Number 7, Sony PlayStation 3, which should be much lower on
the list.
Yeah, it should be on place 20.
actually I think all the consoles
well no actually that would be unfair
but I haven't seen anything
good come out
from the Playstation 3
sure it has a cell processor
but I can say my toaster has a cell processor
it doesn't mean it's excellent
I'm not excited about Playstation 3
yet
I mean the games that came out aren't really interesting
and they
seriously don't look any better
than Xbox 360 games
exactly and the only interesting thing i've seen so far is
battle gear 4 yeah yeah but that's not
out yet exactly the graphics are well you never know if
they're still lying about their graphics
i mean i'm sure they can't handle all that prettiness that
you saw on on that was us you
don't remember the first trailer kill switch they said that
was in-game footage but it was actual
rendering like i don't know girls lots of chocolate i can't
believe you guys forgot the
big scandal with kill switch so he was saying it was real-
time footage and then we found out it was
not for the playstation 3 well i got the same effect when i
first had my playstation 2 and i
played no my no not playstation 2 the playstation and i
still like the images of final fantasy and
the day i tried the game i was like dude them graphics they
're horrible but in the videos they
looks so awesome but in the gameplay it's like the total is
it the the the what the the the
videos in final fantasies are not awesome oh they think
they're back then they were like no
they tried to make 3d anime i never liked them it was guy
with the girl with a really pointy nose
okay in final fantasy 8 they were beautiful yeah final
fantasy 8 was awesome was just beautiful
but in seven was like no terrible yeah seven but it was
still for for the the first playstation
right yeah it was until nine eight ten one i don't know i
think yeah you're right eight was
on the first playstation as well nine was with vivi yeah
ten ten was the first version to come
out on playstation two yes okay now i remember playstation
two but the style of final fantasy
7 and 8 are so different 9 was the best there was vv nah i
don't know 9 reminded me too much
of the wizard of oz and that oh no idea you might sorry yes
so number six thank you richard
well number six elephant dream haven't seen it what it's
free and you can get it in hd now and
i into it's eight minutes long or something it's not long
well the story was a bit weird
Be sure you say eight minutes short then.
Yes.
The story was a bit weird,
but it was a good effort by the guys.
They made the first open source movie.
I congratulate them.
I interviewed the director, Basayam Kraldi.
And if you haven't seen OffenStream,
you better check it out because it's awesome.
And I forgot the website,
but I'm pretty sure if you check it out,
Google OffenStream or something,
you can find it.
It shows what Blender can do,
even though it has the most horrible interface ever
conceived by man,
which is very personal for me.
And the link is just elephantstream.org.
Voila.
Thank you, Richard.
Welcome.
Let's continue on the list.
Anyways, Elephant Stream is cool.
Check it out.
Number five.
Disney buys Pixar.
Good deal.
I don't think Disney and Pixar will make a good team.
They were always a team.
They always worked with each other.
Yeah, well, yeah.
Yeah.
Then again, I hope Disney does not kill Pixar.
Actually, Disney is doing their own 3D studios also,
beside Pixar.
It's like they're making competition for themselves.
Hmm.
And did you know that Disney put two other 3D studios
before Pixar, and they killed them both?
Well, that was because they wanted to protect Pixar.
Probably, actually.
I don't know from what.
Or maybe they wanted to integrate the teeth into Pixar.
I mean, Disney's cool.
Pixar's cool.
Yeah.
You know, I saw the footage again.
I was at the disco,
and for some reason,
during the entire night,
they were playing Snow White
and the Seven Dwarves.
So it was, like, really distracting.
You're in the middle of the dance floor,
and there's Snow White playing.
You just, like, stop dancing to watch Snow White
because it's just beautifully animated.
And the way that she moves
is just, like, so smooth.
It's, like...
Yeah, I've been to the Disney exhibition in Paris.
It's, like, really, really cool.
And I've met the guy...
He's called Pierre Lambert.
He draws for Tex Avery,
but that doesn't have anything to do with Disney.
But that edit-a-bition was awesome.
You actually get to see, like,
original paintings and everything
for everything.
It's always...
No, but seriously,
like, if you look at Snow White now
and you look at the animation
that's coming out now,
like, Snow White just kicks its ass.
It's just so smooth and nice
and beautiful.
What the hell are these guys doing now?
Everything is just so choppy
and it's very anime-ish,
you know, where there's Goku
and then there's a voice going for five minutes,
but the frame doesn't change at all.
Anybody notice that in Dragon Ball Z?
They're in the air fighting each other.
Okay, most enemies, there's one frame,
and it's just panning, or not even panning,
you just hear a voice, and blah, blah, blah.
Sometimes the mouth doesn't even move.
Anyways.
Anyway.
So Autodesk has a new release.
I mean, Autodesk Maya 8 is out.
Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of the new Maya.
I mean, the interface has changed a bit.
It's more like 3D Max now.
Is it?
And they changed a lot of names, so it's kind of confusing
if you're used to the older versions of Maya and then
transferred to Maya 8.
Adapt or die, man.
Nah, I'll die.
You know what?
They should have just put all or just put all.
yay because it's like they list every freaking program
light wave cinema 4d
XSI max and Maya's five programs that have been updated it
's just kind of
stupid to waste five spots for that unless they couldn't
fill it up yes
next yeah Apple Mac Pro Intel lineup okay what Apple Mac
Pro Intel lineup not
familiar it's a new one it must be cool because it's on
number three next no actually it looks
like the g5 it does indeed yeah oh i just dropped something
and it has an intel processor in it
and it has a quad core intel processor in it and we should
be pressed for some reason
quite cool that's crazy that's a lot yeah but uh why not
put a pc beside it or not make it uh
the number 3B Intel quad-core.
Anyway.
Yeah, unimpressed.
I love Macs.
No, I don't.
But I use them.
Not impressed.
Damn you, Pro Tools.
Yeah, we're chill.
Actually, get a Mac to the Apple Mac thingy.
They actually can run 3S Max Maya and everything.
That's really cool.
I don't know if they used to be able to.
But I'm ready.
They can now run 3D.
They can.
They're super easy Macs.
It says, having included the ability to run that other
platform, the latest Apple hardware,
can not only run Maya, but also the 3DS Max, Mudbox, and
all the other PC-based applications.
It's installed Windows on it, which just makes it a PC.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Not impressed.
You can put all the parts yourself and build it cheaper.
Anyway, cock-a-doodle-doo.
Number two.
Not impressed.
Mudbox beta.
and release a version 1.
Yeah, Mudbox is awesome man.
It's an easier version of something like ZBrush.
And the effects that you can get are amazing if you really
know how to use it.
It pretty much has to be.
Adaptable interfaces, like for example if you're used to 3
ds Max,
you can apply the same settings in Mudbox as well.
So if you pan around in a viewport,
it's exactly the same as in 3ds Max.
And same level of career as I used to Maya.
And that's really handy.
That's very, very cool.
Well thought.
Yeah.
If you have time, you should check out the beta and play
around with it.
You can get some awesome stuff.
A little expensive.
Very.
Yeah.
It's more expensive than...
It's kind of expensive, but it's less expensive than ZBrush
.
Really?
It's less?
Yeah.
I thought it was more.
Really?
Not sure.
Anyways, we're impressed.
I'll see how much it costs.
The only thing, it doesn't have texturing options like ZBr
ush, which is kind of left for textures
in ZBrush.
Cool.
Non-commercial use.
You'll see refresh that much.
Like, if you use it for your own stuff, it costs $300.
And if you use it for commercial use, it only costs $649.
Can't you get 3D masks for $150 for a student license?
Yeah, that's a student license.
Yeah, but don't you used to be in school for that?
There's loads of special things that...
Well, yeah.
It's not that easy, I think.
My school gets volume licenses of Photoshop.
I mean, well, not just Photoshop, all the CS suit.
So that rocks for me.
Yeah, I think it's just a shame that all these programs are
so expensive.
Especially if you don't want to use it for commercial ends.
Like, for example, you like to do freelance work or
something.
Then I'm just...
This is an American.
Yeah, yes.
Finish, please.
That's why I said that it's logical that you have to pay
more for a program.
If you just want to use it for practice or for just
personal stuff like your portfolio or whatever.
I think the price should be way down, but yeah, if you don
't...
I'm joking.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
All our employees are commercial.
Well, what I think is that, no, not really.
They make a show about selling your model, so it's still
your own...
Yeah, but it's helping me with this job.
It's making money.
It's helping you to make money.
Well, yeah.
Indirective.
Then again, I think they should use a little account.
Trial version that lasts longer than 30 days,
because they want you to try their program within 30 days.
How on earth are you supposed to, if you don't even know
the program at all?
It's called...
Waste your life, try our program.
Insomnia.
Yeah.
Anyways, number one.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Dead Man's Chest.
I think it's a well-deserved first place.
I mean...
Indeed.
The movie is totally awesome.
The CG looks so real.
It's magnificent.
And Davy Jones rocked my socks.
Good on you.
Seriously, when he was playing the organ,
that was just pure awesomeness.
The tentacles.
And he has no notes.
It's well, well done.
Congratulations to ILM.
I'm pretty sure nobody from ILM listens to us, but still.
I'm pretty sure.
Mad prop out to them.
Yes, yes.
May God be with you.
So, well, this list was very unimpressive.
Well, the stuff, some of the stuff in it was impressive,
but having all the programs, new version there,
it's like something that happens every year.
Yeah.
It's a bit redundant.
Next.
This is too.
Next year we're going to have Max 10, Maya 9, blah blah
blah, Lightwave 10.
I don't know, blah blah blah. That must be a cool 3D
package.
It's the one I'm working on. It's going to rock the world.
So what else happened this year?
When did Autodesk buy Alias? Wasn't it this year?
Yeah, it was.
2006?
Yeah.
So why wasn't that on the list?
I don't know. They probably thought it wasn't that
interesting.
I'm pretty sure it's very interesting.
It is.
It's more interesting than Max 9 and Maya 8 and Nightwave
10.
Max on something, Cinema 4D.
True.
True.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it's way more important than the Nintendo Wii being on
the list
or the PlayStation 3.
Yeah, but then again, they have to kind of satisfy
everybody.
They can't be that specific.
Selling out?
How can they sell out?
It's not cool.
No, satisfy.
Yes, but when you go out of your way to satisfy somebody,
it's like you're sawing out.
Dennis, comments?
Dennis, please say something.
No, I don't have any comments.
You don't have any comments?
No, I'll stay out of it.
Any predictions for 4.0 2007?
I predict there will be a 3D Max version 10.
Yeah, well, that's not really a prediction
because you know it's coming out anyway.
Come on, you never know, there could be a MyX.
I think the new Photoshop does some awesome things.
CS3?
Yes.
I wish you could do the stuff you can do in Painter in
Photoshop.
I saw a video where you can make adjustment layers for
levels and stuff like that.
You can do it with filters now, which I think is pure
awesome.
Well, could you do that with CS2?
No, you could not.
So now you have non-destructive filters, which is very sexy
.
What do you mean non-destructive filters?
Because when you put a filter, the filter becomes permanent
.
No, it does not.
There is a way so that you can not do that.
Yes, Ctrl-Z doesn't count.
That's not Ctrl-Z.
No, there is a way.
I've written this this year at uni.
Okay, go and put a diffuse glow on an image.
Save the PSD, send it to me,
I'll see if I can remove the diffuse glow.
Okay, sure, no problem.
Give me a second.
Okay.
It's in the store, diffuse glow.
While Riri is doing that,
I think it would be nice to read all the emails I got from
2006.
Who's interested?
Anybody?
Me, me, me.
How long will it take?
It's not that much.
I'm not that popular.
Give it a go.
So, okay.
Okay, 2006.
this one is from Nick Van Zatfen
Olivier, wait, hold on
Olivier, great, very helpful show
it gave me a much better idea of VFS
only the quality was terrible
damn Skype
yes, damn you Skype
only the drawing and sculpture point bothered me a bit
because I can't draw, sculpt or paint at all
I hope it's just his point of view
I'm not really sure which episode he's talking about
because of who I've met
anyways, I hope it's just his point of view
bought it at VFS.
Oh, Vancouver Film School.
Okay, so he's talking about one of those episodes.
I'm probably not the only whiz kid
that started at home in a dark room
freaking 3D around
with some tutorials and critics from forums.
They all skipped the drawing and painting part.
Okay.
I don't know.
I'll skip the next email.
This one's a bit confusing.
Anyways, this one is from Dejan or Dehan.
I'm not sure if the J is the H in Spanish.
There you go.
Well, you can't actually do the diffuse glow,
but you can do the levels, the brightness, and everything.
That's not a filter, dude.
We're talking about filters.
Uh-huh.
I told you we could...
I said that before we could do that with the adjustments.
No, this is just...
But just have a look at it.
Yes, I know how to do that.
That's very easy to do.
But now you can do that with the filters,
like diffuse glow and paint dabs and...
Over.
That is cool.
Never mind.
And I, as people say, my bad.
Come on, I spent way too much time in Photoshop.
You know, like, yes, when you film a scene
and you forget to film a scene without the actors,
I end up using Photoshop to digitally remove the actors
from the scene and that takes forever.
Especially when it's the camera moves.
Anyways, so back to the email from Dejan Sparovic.
Hello.
Hi, OJ.
Hi, guys.
I'm Dejan from Croatia.
And I just wanted to write this email of support
because I really like the show.
Most of all, I enjoyed the interviews, especially the one
with Lunatic.
That was very inspirational and the others were really fun.
So please, more interviews.
But the other shows were okay too.
Only the New Year's Eve show I think was pretty bad quality
.
Yes, I did that with my pocket PC.
I said that, I remember that.
I understand...
There have been years.
2005.
Whoa, that's old.
No, wait.
No, no, no, no.
No, no, no, it was 2005 to 2006.
Going into the crappy year.
Oh my god, what a depressing year that was.
Anyways, that was not.
It was.
No.
It was totally horrible.
Anyways, we'll talk about it after.
We'll talk about how crappy it was after.
Okay.
I think it was bad quality.
I understood maybe half of it.
Could have been something on my end though.
No, I'm pretty sure we just sucked.
The videocast was funny, man.
Weird but funny.
Who are those weird mask guys?
That was one guy.
His name is Thomas and he's in art visual.
First year or second year now.
Anyways, you should have considered a more private location
.
Yes, nobody was supposed to be at school at night, but I
guess that was special.
Anyways, but it was nice to hear what you guys who aren't
in CG thought about the books.
Looking forward to the new shows.
Have fun, guys.
Dejan Sparovic.
Don't even try to pronounce that one, Archer.
Yeah, I probably failed at it.
I'm a big fan of Tyson Ebell's work.
And the guy's only 18.
I'm sure he's 20 now.
Darn.
So, yeah, that's nice.
That's nice.
Next email from Gareth, which was in January 23, 2006.
No subject.
I like the podcast.
Some nice and interesting subjects there.
I am finding the sound quality for a couple of the later
podcasts quite bad for your voice.
The interviews sound fine, but your voice is quite muffled
and distorted.
I'm sorry but this is how I talk
and I mumble
and my voice is not pleasant
especially with this microphone
if you want I will talk like this
I will miss-
We talk like this too, we do the French interview now
I will- yes I will continue talking reading the email like
this
break
It is not so deep
to the sound of the re-
I left six
Yeah man let's go on
we made sexy time
and now there's
but I-
You must go on
Let me finish the email, but I just thought I would have to
mention it in case you wanted some feedback.
Yes, we always want feedback.
Always.
We don't get enough.
Except from spam.
But anyways.
Oh yeah, you want a free Rolex?
No.
There's a prince in Nigeria who says he has $2 billion for
me.
I sent him an email and he's going to wire it to my bank
account number, which I gave him.
Anyways, please forgive me if you have mentioned a reason
for this.
I am listening to the shows out of order,
so I might have missed what you said.
Ciao, girl.
There are many reasons for it sucking.
There's one, it's Skype.
There's two, I'm using two PCs.
I soon fix that once I get a new sound card.
And maybe I could buy a new microphone or something.
Yeah, they're not that expensive.
But I love this one.
We've been through so much together.
No, I'm proud.
That song was really scary, man.
Well, it's been through, well, I'm not sure if it's,
anyways.
this one is from alan hanny bonjour olivier i discovered cg
cast.com the other day and i'm
loving it oh yeah the date is from wow there's a big jump
you see we go from january to august
that's a whole little email like yeah from january august
to august 27th anyways
What?
Anyway.
I am not a son.
Anyways.
I discovered CGCast.com the other day and I'm loving it.
Great idea to have these interviews online.
Peter Draper.
Also, I'm a big fan of his tutorials.
Well, yeah.
I've got a question for you.
Is it Pete Draper or is it Peter Draper?
Because I never know.
Just call him Pedro Diablo.
Pedro.
Yeah, yeah.
But apart from that.
That's Peter, I think.
Because I think on his books it says Pete Draper.
Wait, else?
On his Skype?
Ah, well, it's Pedro.
Peter.
I'm sure it's Peter because there's no Pete's probably.
No, it says Pete Draper.
Yeah, but it's like Meets Meyer.
His name is not really Meets Meyer.
Yeah, but his name is Pete Draper and on the book it says
Pete Draper.
Yeah, guys, everybody who uses 3ds Max, you should get De
constructing the Elements with 3ds Max, the new one.
The second edition.
Richard, speak louder.
I'm not going to mix the sound.
Yeah, okay.
Everybody who uses 3ds Max use Deconstruct,
well, by deconstructing the elements with 3ds Max.
The new edition totally rocks.
Okay.
Thanks, JP, for that awesome book.
Let's continue.
You can send him an email, you know.
Anyways, anyway, as you are in Switzerland,
do you happen to have a list of the different CG studios
based in Switzerland?
Archviz Films Games.
I know there aren't many, but it might come in handy.
I'm living in Sydney, Australia at the moment,
but might relocate to the homeland one of these days.
Thank you.
Kind regards, Alan Haney, 3D artist.
I know two studios.
One is local something.
Their website is pretty not nice.
And there's another one in Viva,
which is like a one-man show or two-man show or something.
Not really show up 3D scene in Switzerland,
which I should check out.
But if I find out anything, which I still have not, I'll
mention it.
Anyways, next.
Okay, this one is from Manal.
Richard, remember that horrible show we made that never got
published?
Yeah.
Well, just remember that.
I would like to hear the Crash and Burn episode.
Though there's something that wants to hear it because we
talked about it before.
Also, I would like, I want you to read off the hate mail.
Just my curiosities.
I'll read two of them for you, Manal.
Don't worry.
That's why I'm reading this show because I promised Minnell
that I would read the email.
But would also like the positive email.
Also, talk on CGCast chat with me more.
I hardly see you there.
Man, I try to get on more often.
Also, I want to buy all your stuff on DVD to be mailed to
me, please.
Maybe I'll try and make something like a DVD to sell or
maybe give away for free.
If I can afford to buy.
How about an audio CD?
No, because that would be one CD per episode,
and I'm pretty sure a few episodes are longer than 70
minutes.
True, true, true.
Yeah.
And plus, empty tubes are cooler.
Anyways, the chat is still there.
I've been checking it out lately because I've been busy
making movies.
Yeah, the kid's been busy.
Yeah.
And then I have no idea how I'm going to finish this week
because I have to shoot a scene on Wednesday,
and we have to be finished by Friday,
So I have Thursday to do all the mixing.
That's what happened to me the other day.
I had to do my computer graphics project for uni,
and I left it to the very last day
and basically did all my project within the night.
Yes, but I didn't intentionally do that.
It's just shitty luck.
And it looks like it's going to rain on Wednesday,
and then if it rains on Wednesday, I'm going to cry
and probably jump in front of a train and commit suicide.
No, you don't.
Why not?
It's just very inconsiderate to commit suicide with a train
.
Anyways, this one is...
Alright, I had a contest, remember?
On the last episode.
And two people did it.
So they got the discs, which will be bailed tomorrow.
And so the question was...
Why did you get into CG?
And Michael Harrigan, the first person to answer,
he answered this.
Hello! I remember when I was younger watching movies like
Tron and The Last Starfighter and thinking,
I'd really like to learn that.
I have always enjoyed the creative aspects of tinkering
with 3D programs.
Let's see what I can do.
This one CD would make things a lot more interesting in my
work.
Michael Harrigan.
He shall get CD number one, Totals Textures.
As much phone as that.
Not mine.
I think that was mine. Sorry.
Anyways, number...
Stop saying that. It's really confusing and disturbing.
What?
Anyway.
I don't know where I saw it, but let's move on.
Yeah.
Oh, the hit mails.
Three more left.
Okay.
Neil O'Donnell is the second person to answer for the
contest.
Hey, here's my answer to your competition for the Total Te
xture DVDs.
Well, it's actually a CD.
But anyways, why did you get into CG?
I got into CG because I had the desire to produce
sophisticated images that challenge people's imagination
and allow them to see things they couldn't possibly see in
any other medium, whether based on realism or fantasy.
There you go.
Neil O'Donnell, www.mediaflare.co.uk
Congratulations, you shall get CD No. 2, which will be ma
iled off tomorrow, by my mother.
Next email.
Oof.
It's entitled, Drawing.
Okay, who's doing that?
Stop it.
Richard, I know it's you.
Doing what?
I don't know, but it sounds like you're scraping something.
Yeah, I'm making a stick so that I can kill vampires that
come and disturb me during my
sleeps.
I see.
What's that?
My phone.
Anyways, uh...
Wrap it up.
Wrap it up.
Yeah, it's, um...
What?
The wake?
How long?
Oh, shit.
We've been 50 minutes already?
Anyways, um...
Yes, and Bobby's running out.
Oh, my God.
Anyways, two more positive mail.
You said a bad word there, by the way.
You said a lot of bad words anyways.
I'm pretty sure I was not.
Yes, you did.
Not.
Okay, if anybody's listening,
can you send me an email if Richard said a bad word?
Yeah, please.
Yes.
Hey, one two, send me one two.
What's your email, Richard?
RIRi284 at hotmail.com.
Yeah.
So it's Riri.
Yeah, Riri.
Stop saying Riri like in French.
Come on.
something for them french what's wrong with this reps yeah
what about it anyways back to the ml
hi asher wait it's from mark love and it's from the 12th
the 31st no wait wait wait it's from the
the 31st from new years bay of 2006 hi archer been enjoying
listening to your podcast being
new to cg regarding drawing i heard you say a few times
that you're not very good at it
This morning, if you've either heard of a book,
Drawing the Right Side of Your Brain by Betty Edwards.
Well, that's an awesome book.
It's an awesome book for learning to draw,
and you'll be amazed at the transformation of your skills
at the end of it.
Here's a recommendation for you.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers, Mark.
Well, you see, I write really five years old.
I fell off the monkey bars, and I broke my arm.
Is that in the mail, or is that you just...
No, no, no, it's me, and I broke my arm,
and then I had to walk two football fields
and the nurse didn't know what was wrong with me
so I had to walk the two football fields again
and then eventually they called my mom
and then we figured out that my arm was broken
and the doctor said it badly
and I can't bend my arm properly
and I can bend it really far back
and I do that to creep people out
so I think that's kind of why I don't draw.
Oh, I can do the same thing, huh?
If you can do the same thing naturally,
that means you have a lot of estrogen.
Yeah, I can do that.
Well, basically, I'm like a flexible person sort of thing.
I can touch my left ear with my left hand, but make my arm
go all the way down.
You can bend your arm back further than normal.
And you're not a woman, and you're not a woman.
You need to have a lot of estrogen that you should have
been born a woman.
Are you a hemiphobe?
No, this episode is turning into an awkward road, you know?
Biology is my passion, and I love that.
So I'm just explaining to Richard that he might be a woman.
Anyways, last positive email.
I'm pretty sure there's somebody that's going to script me
about that.
Anyways, from Gus A.
Hi, Archer.
Just a quick note to let you know I appreciate...
Okay, this one is from the first...
No, wait.
Damn the American date system.
It's from the seventh of the first.
Hi, Archer.
Just a quick note to let you know I appreciate the time you
've taken...
Richard, stop that.
It's not me.
Liar.
Just a quick note to let you know I appreciate the time
that you have taken to create all the shows.
I do not recall how exactly I found your website, but I
downloaded a couple of the shows and moved them to my Trejo
phone
and have been listening to them when I drive from home.
I am at show 21 right now, but did go out of order and
watched number 26 and just finished watching.
Some of them are hard to understand, i.e. sound issues.
However, the effort is appreciated even if I wasn't able to
fully understand them.
I'm still
it's fairly nice right?
yeah it is
yeah indeed
I kind of sound sarcastic when I don't intend to
so please forgive me
I can't control it
I am still in the learning stage of
various processes
but I use Lightwave 3D
and I'm exploring ways in which to use
it together with Vue 6
and VFX Plus
I've never heard of VFX Plus
along with a match moving program
special from view six real fizz match mover pro 4hd it's a
really long name kind of cool but much
to learn not enough time been working on an unrelated feel
so i have not had the time
to dedicate to the hobby dream slash dream but your show
keeps me on track oh anyways i didn't
say that it's the the email said anyways just wanted once
again to take the time to let you
know the effort time is spent is appreciate greetings from
the usa gus thank you gus you're
the yeah that's nice nice words man first email from the
year 2007 that's a good way to start
good start then good start yep good start indeed in 2006 oh
yeah in 2006 my first email was was
from nick anyways they hate me well technically it's not
really hate mail it was on the old forums
by Mr. Cameron James
who is more like a hate post.
What, Cameron?
Yes, your beloved.
I hate stuff from him.
Well, it's not exactly hate, but it's...
Anyways, I'll read it.
Hey, Archer, Cam here.
Oh, wait, I should do an Australian accent.
Sorry, I didn't hear this.
I got nothing to do with this whatsoever.
Hey, Cam.
Oh, man.
I noticed you have no trouble
critiquing professional artists' work on your cast.
I have, wait, okay, I'll interrupt.
My comments, well, really, I have never done that.
Offering advice and methods on bettering these pieces,
and we will be there.
Anyways, again, I never did it.
Here's an idea.
How about your next show use that same constructive,
like constructive, or is it?
Read that normally.
Yeah, you're very confused right now.
Okay, let's start over, and I will put a stop after each
sentence.
I have noticed that you have no trouble critiquing
professional artists' work on your cast,
offering advice and methods on bettering these pieces.
Okay, I have never done that.
Here's an idea.
How about for your next show, you use that same
constructive criticism
and criticize not only your own work, but these podcasts,
and of course, that horrendously disrespectful videocast.
Uh, okay.
What?
I don't know.
I didn't do anything bad.
Anyways, I have listened to every single one of your
podcasts
and watched a terrible video book review, which I seriously
regret,
and started thinking, at first I thought you had a great
idea.
You found a powerful tool in an area it hasn't been used
and went with it.
Good for you.
I was happy for you and wished you all the best.
Liar.
100% serious.
It's not real.
I'm not dumb.
I thought it was immature, poorly presented, and badly
edited.
But was your first couple of calls at it so our show was to
get better?
Sadly, you didn't go any further with the quality of your
professionalism
or in any way to try to upscale this as it is.
To get big and many people around you realize what you had
in your precision.
I don't want to be professional.
I like how it is.
It's nice laid back, whatever.
I'm not trying to...
I don't really control the audio quality.
Anyways, next sentence, next paragraph.
This was a great tool a great learning environment
Which if you use correctly could become an absolutely
fantastic attribute to the CG community worldwide instead
of nourishing it and giving it
What it needed to grow and survive you had it crumbling to
turn into nothing you hear guys or nothing
I knew it out says I wasn't taking you're part of the show
so that that indirectly includes you anyways
The communities in Harvard were ever did not recognize wait
the way the community Harvard did recognize it
They did see it for what it was worth, managed to get some
very knowledgeable artists and spokespeople in from all
over the world onto your show.
And there's actually a reason for this.
And your interviewees got bigger and more famous yet.
And famous, isn't that a bit insulting?
Anyways, yet you still behave the same image yourself.
You still produce the same low-quality, badly edited, uns
cented works as your audience got bigger and became
something of importance to a lot of people.
You know, honestly, I'm not, I don't actually, I stopped
editing the shows a long time ago because it took too long
homework.
But yes, I digress.
In my opinion, you let down the artists you interview and
your audience, both of whom it seems you have no respect
for.
You know, I apparently have, he's telling me how I feel.
Stop typing.
I hear you type here. That's disrespectful. That's what
Cameron is talking about.
You're disrespecting the interviewees and the audience by
typing.
You're immature.
Such a...
He's...
He's immature.
Anyways, so...
So, I'm...
You're letting down people, Richard.
Sorry, people.
Keep it up.
Do you wonder if these Okikos actually know what they're
talking about?
Yes, they're talking about the horrible post by Cameron
James.
I...
Okay, let me continue.
I thought it was over my...
This is personal.
You have something personal against me.
I thought it was...
I thought I was over my...
My views on your accident immaturity.
I thought you had changed your growing up and stopped being
that little kid that you
that had that had you shone from the CG world in many
people's eyes after
watching your ballistic book review I was sorely mistaken I
seems you hadn't
changed your ways at all no people don't change dude at all
never the only thing
you had changed is the level of people you were affecting
the size of the
audience who were receiving what media you were spreading
yourself on okay the
The CG Society has offered you outstanding support for
which they are known.
Once again, they have given back to the CG community.
They saw something in your discussion that was worth
promoting,
that was worth nurturing, even if you only saw it as your
pet project.
Yeah, it was just my pet project.
It's kind of hard doing this in school at the same time.
That's why so many episodes are missing.
Anyways, they gave you a means to turn this into what it
should have been,
something respected throughout the globe as professional
means of communication and education
between professionals and learning artists alike.
In this case, not only did they offer artists for your show
, which you verbally disrespected,
but from what I hear, they donated those books to your show
to be reviewed.
Yes they did.
I have no comment.
I'm very disrespectful, apparently.
Okay, if anybody thinks I'm disrespectful, send me an email
saying I'm disrespectful.
Since I normally get no emails, I'll probably get no emails
saying I'm disrespectful, thus
proving I'm not disrespectful.
Anyways, there's more.
Skylikes to write.
Damn it, Cameron.
Anyways, now that video, disregarding the fact that it was
your first, that you've had no experience in filmmaking,
well that's not true, I know how to film, but it's kinda
awkward, or anything-
This guy in real life?
No, no, no, I kinda knew it.
Because it sounds like a total fader's phone still.
Yes, it's still camera.
No, he is an awesome, really cool guy.
Ah, yeah.
No.
No, man.
Let me finish the goddamn post.
Okay, I'll start over.
Now that video, disregarding the fact that it was your
first, that you've had no experience in filmmaking or
anything of its type before,
was the worst, most disrespectful thing I've ever seen.
It hurt me to see the way you threw around those books and
turned what should have been a fantastic show to watch.
It's a mockery of the realistic publishing, CG society, and
your fellow artists.
It was a shame to see, and I truly hope that you don't have
the chance to do anything like that again.
Oops, I just reviewed some books again.
Now, if you discuss this on your next show, it might be
something to tune in to listen.
Oh, this is like a yearly.
So, same goes for your work.
I said it before and I'll say it again.
You have talent, mate, but you've hit a wall.
You're not learning.
You're not progressing.
If you want to have a go in this field, you actually have a
bit of knowledge to back what you try and speak about on
your shows.
Then you have to practice and get into seating instead of
babbling here and then.
You have to learn from this community, which is full of
people who are out there to give you a hand.
CG is not like riding a bike.
Remember that.
You hear?
Okay, that's about it.
Yeah, you see.
Well.
I wonder if it cuts out in and out, so the email is
probably going to be even weirder.
So, comments?
Nothing?
I have nothing to say there, because I know Cameron well.
I've never met him, but I know him.
I really like that guy, so no comments from me on this one.
Yes.
Yeah.
Okay.
There's another one, which is like hate mail, but it's
directed more towards me than CGCast.
But it involves CGCast.
It calls it a blog, which I find hurtful.
Oh, my God.
I'm running out of battery.
How many more minutes on the battery left?
Oh, snap.
Track card.
Wait, wait, wait.
I'm coming.
The show has to be finished in...
I don't know.
Anyways.
So this email was like from Aiden Priest.
I'm pretty sure you know him.
Again, Richard.
Aiden.
yeah yeah so this email came about big okay we have eight
minutes left this email came about
because when i was on vacation and then have 3d max and he
asked me how to use a salt shader 3d
max so i told him to use the goddamn manual and he didn't
want to and then he got mad at me and
then he sent me this email and then he was like okay kids i
'm gonna say a bad word dude fuck off
You talk to everyone like you're the best and which you're
not.
To be honest, I never thought you was any good at anything.
And I didn't think half of Simply CG does either.
I'm not naming people.
That's not right.
Wait, I'm not done.
I don't think half of Simply CG does either.
I'm not naming people, but I've sat in convos where all
they do is laugh about your attitude to everything
and talk about how much of a joke you are.
To be honest, I don't even know why you're on my NSN.
The other half are wannabe CG artists that think a box and
a max is awesome so you're God in their eyes.
Also, Aiden is one of the reasons the camera doesn't like
me is because of Aiden.
So it's very related, both of them.
So it's like the same person talking to me.
Anyways, I digress.
If I was you, wait, if I was you, I'd stop thinking you're
better than everyone.
I do not.
And drop down to your skill level you're really at,
socially and CG.
Stop your shitty blogs, which she's referring to CGCast.
You review things on a biased review where you choose what
you want to say.
That's a point of review.
Ever thought of what others think?
No, it's about yourself.
When you have looked at improving your work based on
criticism you receive.
Oh wait, I can answer that question.
Never.
This is because your attitude is that you're the best and
you don't need to prove it.
Let's make a little rant.
Oh, you already started.
Okay, this is horrible grammar.
Criticism.
To you is obsolete.
It doesn't exist.
To you is just a comment where negative features are
invisible.
Of course, to the edge, I'm perfect.
What?
Can't help it.
Are you joking?
Kind words.
Absurd.
Example.
Archer, your work sucks.
It makes your balls look hot.
You see, Archer, your work looks hot.
I don't get it.
Oh, snap.
Okay, I'm like...
The battery died and the laptop went into hibernation.
So we're back.
Uh, so where was I?
Okay.
Ales.
Yes.
Aiden was saying about my balls looking hot.
So anyways.
Attitude.
You think you're the best.
No one is better than you.
When you see a piece of work, what do you look for?
You look for tiny imperfections just so you can say,
Get rid of them.
Just to say to yourself, this work sucks.
making a comment like, wow, that's awesome doesn't exist in
your vocabulary.
That's not true.
I say awesome a lot.
You know, when people rant, they're just expressing what
they feel deep down inside about themselves.
Anyways, let's continue.
Let's show some little imperfections I noticed in your last
post.
Subject, lower skates, immature.
You think lower skates would be immature?
How immature of you.
I'm not here to help you.
I, oh, fucking hell, I can't bother with this.
Did I say a bad word?
I don't care
and we said
skip to the end
uh
I said all this
because I'm fucked off
with your little
ads here about everything
so please go write
your little love stories
over and over
and over again
there's a repetition
in a place
where nobody can see them
because I'm kind of
pissing off
to see these things
I think you do
blah
my mother pissed off
today
I'm practically drunk
so
you know what you should do
you should actually mute
all the little swear words
you just said
uh
I'm pretty sure
nobody cares
because
nobody cares
I mean
it's just a word
yeah
not like
like the devil
in America
like they show boobies
on TV
on commercials here
and they say
bad words
in the newspaper
and they show boobies
on the newspaper
and this country
just rocks
I don't see
what the big problem is
if you reply to this
in any way or form
I'm going to call you
immature
isn't that a bit ironic
and I'm immediately
deleting it
deleting it
Because I can't be ass with your pathetic ass.
Oh my god, repetition.
Oh, his vocabulary sucks.
Anymore, I've deleted you off MSN.
I'm so hurt.
So I don't have to bother with you signing in with gay
names.
So au revoir and fuck you.
Okay.
At least the guy talks French.
He only can say bye in French.
Let's just start.
Anyway, so I think that's about it.
One hour and ten minutes.
That's long.
This has been a terrible episode.
But it was fun.
Well, it was as terrible as 2006, but it was that way.
Yes, let's talk about why 2006 sucked.
It wasn't that bad, come on.
Let's see.
I mean, for me, it was really good.
Yeah.
Probably was my best year so far.
Let's see, 2006 sucked because I had a lot of bad luck.
I almost failed school.
I found out that the girl that I was falling in love had
cancer and disappeared,
and I haven't seen her anymore.
What else?
I almost broke a couple parts of my body.
Well, it's got nothing to do with CG, does it?
I did nothing in CG.
I almost got stitches.
I almost got a concussion.
I almost lost my finger from a weird boating accident.
What else?
It just basically sucked in every shape and form,
except for the end of the year, which was awesome.
Yeah, about that.
2006 just sucked.
So I think that's a wonderful note to end the show on.
So stay around because there'll be more interviews.
I have to finish.
I mean, there will be more interviews, more reviews, more
videos.
Also, I was thinking about doing a videocast because I
noticed that,
I mean, conference, because I noticed that Richard and
Dennis have webcams
and they have such beautiful faces that they're saying not
to let the public see them.
So if anybody's interested, we could make video conferences
with webcams.
If anybody's interested, send an email, you know, archer at
cgcast.com.
I'm going to see the beautiful Richard and Dennis.
wear masks because I'm not so pretty.
Oh wait, you guys already see me.
So anyways,
interviews, I don't know. I've sent some
emails. I still have a lot of people
that I would like to interview.
Oh, McKay.
He has never replied to me.
What a shame. What a great guy.
Yeah, so
I have to finish
reviewing the texture CDs
from Authority Tafal
and then I have to
review some the days training DVDs and a book yes a nice
have you ever review
some genieman stuff no I'm nobody's man they have some
awesome stuff planning to
buy a DVD for 69 bucks I review it for fun because I'm not
just for fun but I
I tried the first three DVDs for character creation,
and it's really, really good.
Really?
Yeah, but I have some character creation DVDs.
I'm a really, really guy.
That's not my Doom CD just for...
Anyways, so we're ending the show.
I was going to say something you didn't see me forget.
That's about it.
Any final words, Richard?
Everybody who's, like, I don't know.
just go on simply cd but net it's an awesome community it's
getting bigger and bigger you
get help from everybody and people actually encourage you
and yeah if you post like let's
say if you post good work they're not all gonna go wow that
's awesome they actually you know give
you feedback and everything and if you post not so good
work they're not gonna go dude you're
you're like a total beginner go away they're like hey that
looks good you maybe you could try this
and that to improve it.
A great community.
So you have Aiden and Cameron there
to tell you to fuck off.
No, they show nice people, seriously.
They're a big part of the community.
Honestly, I think Synthesit is cool.
There's Tyson.
I'm not a big fan of Cameron.
No Aiden.
Aiden has an ego problem.
Cameron's sense of humor sucks.
But other than that, it's nice.
His height was cool.
And there's the other guys.
My stick.
Ah, Rob. Robert.
Yeah.
Who is you?
Me, the French guy, Richard.
Ah, the little...
And seriously, if there is...
If there is someone from Paris who makes 3D,
come to SimpliTD because I'm the only guy in France
and it's annoying.
Voilà.
I'll buy you a bag, please.
Anyway, my website is richardamno.com
and my email address.
I just gave it, but I'll give it again.
Or feel free to email on
and it's the thing.
Send me an email because I didn't update my website
within a year now, I think.
He also has naked photos if you want to see them.
I do not.
I'm not.
Everybody has naked photos.
Just look in your mother's photo book
and you'll see yourself as a baby naked in a bathtub.
Thank you.
I'm not giving these away.
No way.
Aw, man.
Baby photos are awesome.
Yeah, true.
Actually, I might post one on CJCast.
What?
CJCast?
No, snap.
I'm going to edit the show tomorrow, so I'll put it up on
Monday.
I have to exit my meal day.
I have to mix this sound, and that is not good.
Oh, yes.
Next week, I'm going to try and put a videocast, another
making of a movie, if I can finish
subtitling it in time.
It'd be French for L.G.
Francais.
What?
I say sounds good
alright
okay as I said before
like this has a tendency
to drop out
in and out
I'm looking at the waveform
and there's like
some blank spaces
but they last for like
less than a second
so
I don't know if it's us pausing
or if it's Skype
dropping out
so if that's the case
I'm not gonna bother
edit it out
so
just
in case you find that weird
so
everybody
can you please say goodbye
to
goodbye
from the unprofessional
disrespectful
archer.
I was going to say show, but
I'm also
immature.
I'm immature.
I don't...
I'm everything wrong.
I'm the guy your mom warned you about.
Aren't we all?
Yeah. No. Dennis is Mr. Smooth.
I'm? And what is Richard?
Richard is like...
Yeah, he's French.
Well said.
Being French totally rocks.
We should all be French.
Come on, everybody, come to France.
I like Paris, but I did not like the place where I stayed.
Ça va ou bien?
That's...
Ça va, right.
No, ça va ou bien?
I don't remember.
No, no, no, but the Swiss say ou bien a lot, and it's not
French.
No, we don't say that.
No, the Swiss say ou bien.
Yeah, but I'm not Swiss, I'm Lamy.
And do they say vachement in France?
Hell yeah.
Really? I thought that was a...
No, no, no, they use it a lot.
Anyways, okay, bye-bye.
This is the end.
Bye.
Ciao.
